Enhance and develop relationship with existing and prospective customers to drive revenue in the West Coast ship assist and tanker escort marketplace. Communicate with other Sales and Marketing Coordinators to maintain current market and customer contact information. Review and analyze ship assist data reports from Marine Exchanges and regional Sales and Marketing Coordinators. Act as liaison between customers and Harley Marine Operations division.


  • Develop new relationships with prospective customers.
  • Maintain and enhance existing customer relationships.
  • Produce and develop sales activity and marketplace reports on a regular basis.                                 
  • Monitor customer vessel’s activities and tug usage.        
  • Assist with, and analyze, market share report and tug utilization report.
  • Support and attend Sales and Operations meetings as well as local HSC meetings.
  • Maintain current customer contact information.
  • Produce PowerPoint presentations and present them to customers as needed.                               
  • Support billing and collection department and attend meetings as necessary.
  • Organize sales activities and outings.
  • Participate in the annual budget for Sales and Marketing department and budget for individual sales activities.            
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Sales, Marketing, Maritime, Communications, Business Administration or closely related field.
  • At least two years’ experience in sales/marketing or fast paced maritime management position.
  • Make suggestions regarding customer accounts using data and reports to substantiate these recommendations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good customer relationships
  • Analyze assigned reports in a timely manner and write weekly reports.
  • Capable of managing, multi-tasking, and responding to customer issues in a timely manner.
  • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner. Develop alternative solutions.
  • Managing the Marketing Coordinators and Dispatchers.
  • Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to deal with others using courtesy, tact, and good judgment.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive communications and documents.
  • Ability to successfully deal with complex situations surrounding sales and customer issues.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak clearly and effectively in front of groups of customers or employees of Harley Marine Services.
  • Must be able to read, speak, write, type, and understand English in person and over telephone.

Expected Hours of Work

  • Normal office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday however hours will need to be flexible depending on company needs.
  • Traveling to other locations will be required, typically 25% of the time.
